Skysat delivers its products throughout the European Union 🇪🇺
On Safran 1, Skysat completed all electrical and electronic work on board: power electrics (integration of the power system — alternation, charging, distribution), navigation electronics with two complete B&G instrument lines (offshore racing system), and autopilot with installation of the first Bravo 4 unit from the offshore racing circuit.
Skysat also integrated systems developed by the Safran industrial group: lithium grade aeronautical batteries, spiroconic gear hydrogenerator (direct transfer of aeronautical know-how), and the first Safran inertial measurement unit adapted for marine use — Safran 1 is the first boat to carry this type of equipment.
For this inertial measurement unit, Skysat coordinated custom development between Safran and B&G to interface the unit with the B&G H3000 systems installed on board — a development that established practices now standard on the IMOCA circuit.
During the Route du Rhum 2014, Safran 1 also featured modified Raymarine actuators by Skysat — an evolution that foreshadowed standards now adopted on the circuit.
The boat is now managed by Sailing Organisation Guillemot (SOG), the Marc Guillemot organization based in La Trinité-sur-Mer.

Safran is an IMOCA 60 launched on August 6, 2007, first design signed by VPLP and Guillaume Verdier; Marc Guillemot approached both naval architecture firms in late 2005. The industrial group Safran approved the project in December 2005. Construction began in September 2006 at Larros shipyard in Gujan-Mestras (Arcachon Basin), managed by Thierry Eluère, selected from three finalists (CDK Technologies, JMV Industries, Multiplast) because it committed to building no other sailboat in parallel.
The design features a sharp chine, fuller forward sections, and curved, lifting daggerboards. VPLP handled rigging and deck layout; Verdier oversaw hull, appendages, and structure.
On November 10, 2012 at 17:45, about five hours after the start from Les Sables-d'Olonne, Safran lost its keel 55 nautical miles from port. Marc Guillemot returned to Les Sables-d'Olonne under his own power. An investigation by Verdier and the Safran Sailing Team attributed the failure to weld fatigue between the keel head and blade, exacerbated by repeated wave impacts.
Safran (the industrial sponsor) ended its involvement in late 2014. The boat then raced under other colors for a decade at the highest level:
