Detailed description
Detailed description
Designed for managing high-demand battery systems, the ML-ACR 7622B-BSS automatic charge relay from BLUE SEA is a robust solution for 12V DC installations. This relay uses Magnetic Latching (ML) technology to automatically combine and isolate battery banks, ensuring efficient charge distribution with very low current consumption in ON or OFF state.
Technical performance and features
With a continuous capacity of 500A, an intermittent capacity of 700A (for 5 minutes), and a starting capacity of 1450A (for 30 seconds), the ML-ACR 7622B-BSS is suited for high-efficiency alternators and large battery banks. It includes advanced isolation features, such as the Start Isolation (SI) function to protect sensitive electronics from service loads during engine start, and the Engine Isolation (EI) function to isolate two engines in operation, optimizing alternator output. Unlike models like the M-ACR (65A) or the SI-ACR (120A), the ML-ACR 500A is sized for applications requiring significantly higher current management.
This relay features dual-bank battery load detection and can be manually controlled via a supplied switch for emergency or maintenance situations. The silver-alloy contacts ensure high reliability for switching loads under load, and the 3/8"-16 (M10) tinned copper studs provide maximum conductivity and corrosion resistance. Its design complies with ISO 8846 and SAE J1171 ignition protection requirements and is IP66 certified, allowing installation in engine compartments of gasoline-powered boats. This model is optimized for AGM/GEL batteries, differing from the ML-ACR Li-Ion version designed specifically for lithium battery systems.
Integration and reliability
The ML-ACR 7622B-BSS relay is equipped with a Contura remote control switch (PN 2146) with integrated LED, providing visual indication of the relay’s status (combined, isolated, voltage lock, start isolation, or engine isolation). Its current consumption is less than 40mA in continuous operation and under 7.0A during state changes, minimizing parasitic discharge. It is designed for 100,000 switching cycles, ensuring long-term durability in demanding marine environments. To achieve its maximum rated capacities, it requires wiring of 2x 4/0 AWG (2x 120 mm²).
