garmin-unite-controle-electronique-ecu-ghp-compact-reactor
Electronic Control Unit (ECU) for GHP Compact Reactor™

    The Garmin Electronic Control Unit (ECU) for the GHP Compact Reactor™ (part no. 010-11053-01) is the central component of the GHP Compact Reactor autopilot system. It provides power and connection to the Course Computer Unit (CCU) and hydraulic pump, controlling the pump based on data received from the CCU.

Design and technical integration

    Measuring approximately 15.2 cm in length, 7.6 cm in width, and 22.9 cm in height, the ECU is designed for compact integration. It operates on a power supply voltage of 12V to 24Vdc. Network communication is via NMEA 2000, enabling sharing of autopilot heading data with other compatible devices. The ECU’s power cable is 24 inches long.

Positioning in the Garmin lineup

    The GHP Compact Reactor system, of which this ECU is a part, is specifically designed for single-outboard-engine boats typically under 9 meters (30 feet), primarily targeting cruising applications. Compared to Garmin’s Reactor 40 models, the GHP Compact Reactor ECU is optimized for this less demanding market segment, where extreme precision at low speed or in rough seas is not required. The Reactor 40 models are recommended for boats over 7.6 meters (25 feet), engines over 150 horsepower, or applications requiring stricter heading control in challenging conditions.

System features

    The ECU is a key element of intelligent power management, optimizing power distribution to the CCU and hydraulic pump. While the 9-axis MEMS AHRS (Attitude Heading Reference System) is a feature of the entire GHP Compact Reactor system, it helps minimize heading errors, deviations, and rudder movements while reducing power consumption. The system is also designed for minimal commissioning and calibration. The patented Shadow Drive™ technology (optional) allows manual helm override, with the autopilot reactivating automatically once a stable heading is maintained. The system can be controlled via a compatible Garmin chartplotter or up to three GHC™ control units.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0988/3274/4788/files/main_833039df-0633-45a4-aded-bfc9f767e209.jpg?v=1779194633
