victron-energy-bms-v2-gestion-batterie-lithium
BMS V2

The Victron Energy BMS V2 is the next-generation battery management system (BMS) designed specifically for Victron Lithium Battery Smart lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO₄) batteries. These batteries are available in 12.8 V or 25.6 V and can be configured in series, parallel, or series/parallel to create battery banks compatible with 12 V, 24 V, or 48 V system voltages. The system supports a maximum of 20 batteries, allowing energy storage up to 84 kWh in a 12 V system and up to 102 kWh in a 24 V or 48 V system.

Advanced protection and communication

The BMS V2 is designed to interact with Victron inverters or inverter/chargers equipped with VE.Bus communication, ensuring protection of lithium batteries. It monitors and protects each individual cell against overvoltage, undervoltage, and conditions of overheating or undertemperature. The Lithium Battery Smart batteries include cell voltage monitoring, balancing, and temperature control. Information is transmitted to the BMS via two BMS cables with M8 circular connectors, connected in series for multi-battery systems.

Depending on battery state, the BMS V2 generates a pre-alarm signal in case of imminent cell undervoltage. It disconnects the inverter from VE.Bus devices and cuts other loads via the “Load Disconnect” terminal in case of undervoltage. Similarly, it disconnects charging from VE.Bus devices, VE.Direct and VE.Can solar chargers via a GX device, and other chargers via the “Charge Disconnect” terminal in case of overvoltage, undertemperature, or overheating of cells.

Integration and technical specifications

Connection to MultiPlus, Quattro, or inverter products is made via the “MultiPlus/Quattro” port using a standard UTP RJ45 cable. A GX device (such as a Cerbo GX), Digital Multi Control (DMC) panel, or VE.Bus Smart dongle can be connected to the BMS “Remote panel” port for remote control. The BMS also features a dedicated power output (GX-Power) for GX devices and an auxiliary power input (Aux-In), both rated at 1 A. The “Remote L” and “Remote H” terminals allow activation or deactivation of the BMS. LED indicators (blue for normal state and voltage >2.8 V, red for temperature or voltage >4 V) provide quick visual feedback.

Note that the BMS V2 does not support inverters/chargers or inverters with small processors labeled 19XXXXX or 20XXXXX; for these devices, the original VE.Bus BMS must be used. The BMS V2 operates within an input voltage range of 9 to 70 VDC, with a current consumption of 10 mA in normal operation. Its “Load Disconnect” (1 A source, 0 A sink) and “Charge Disconnect” (10 mA source, 0 A sink) outputs are normally high and float when disconnected. The matte black ABS housing weighs 120 g and measures 23.8 mm x 94.5 mm x 105.5 mm. It is rated IP20 and complies with EN 60950 (safety), EN 61000-6-3, EN 55014-1 (emissions), EN 61000-6-2, EN 61000-6-1, EN 55014-2 (immunity), and EN 50498 (automotive).
