Fluxgate electronic compass with automatic compensation / FINDEPROD

A fluxgate electronic compass, such as the Humminbird HB-FXC110 model, is an essential navigation instrument that measures the Earth's magnetic field to determine the boat's precise heading. Unlike traditional magnetic compasses, it uses electronic sensors to detect variations in the magnetic field. Its primary role is to provide stable and reliable heading data to other electronic equipment on board, such as chartplotters, autopilots, or fishfinders, to enhance navigation, charting, and tracking functions.

The 'automatic compensation' is a key feature of the Humminbird HB-FXC110 fluxgate electronic compass. This function means the compass is designed to detect and automatically correct local magnetic interference that may be present on the boat (caused by metal objects, electrical cables, engines, etc.). The purpose of this automatic compensation is to ensure that the heading data provided by the compass remains accurate and reliable without requiring complex manual adjustments after installation or when the environment changes.

To optimize the performance of the Humminbird HB-FXC110 fluxgate electronic compass, it is generally recommended to install it in a location where it is least exposed to magnetic interference. This means keeping it away from motors, high-current electrical cables, speakers, anchors, metal tanks, or other ferromagnetic objects. Ideally, it should be mounted flat on a stable surface, preferably at the center of the boat, and away from heat sources. It is crucial to consult the specific installation instructions provided with the product for detailed guidance and optimal positioning.

A fluxgate electronic compass is an advanced navigation instrument that uses sensors to detect the Earth’s magnetic field and provide accurate heading information. Unlike traditional magnetic compasses that rely on a moving needle, the fluxgate compass has no moving mechanical parts, making it less sensitive to shocks and vibrations. It is essential for autopilot systems, radars, and heading display on multifunction displays.

The built-in automatic compensation function in this fluxgate electronic compass corrects magnetic deviations. These deviations are caused by the presence of ferrous metals, electrical equipment, or other magnetic interference sources aboard your boat. The compass detects and cancels these interferences autonomously, ensuring a more reliable and accurate heading reading without requiring complex manual adjustments after installation.

To ensure optimal performance, a fluxgate electronic compass must be installed in a stable location, as far as possible from any major magnetic interference sources. This includes engines, high-current electrical cables, speakers, magnets, and large metal masses. It is generally recommended to mount it level, above the waterline, in an area where the Earth's magnetic field is as uniform as possible. Correct installation minimizes errors and maximizes heading accuracy.
