The ePropulsion Spirit 2 (SU-2000-S0) electric outboard motor is a 2 kW marine propulsion solution, designed with a short 62.5 cm shaft. It is intended for tender owners, dinghy sailors, sailboat owners, and small fishing boats. This model represents an evolution over the Spirit 1.0 Plus, incorporating improvements for optimized navigation.
Drive system and performance
The Spirit 2 delivers a nominal power output of 2 kW, equivalent to 5 HP, and features a temporary boost mode of 3 kW, comparable to 6 HP, useful for quick acceleration or demanding conditions. Its nominal operating speed ranges from 1700 to 2100 rpm. Cooling is provided by raw water, and operation is quiet, with a noise level below 60 dB. The motor is equipped with a two-blade propeller with a diameter of 240 mm and a pitch of 167 mm. The motor assembly has an IP67 waterproof rating, ensuring immersion resistance. The full-power operating voltage range is 45.6 VDC to 56 VDC.
Spirit Battery Ultra battery
This motor is powered by an integrated lithium-ion NMC battery, the Spirit Battery Ultra (model S48-32). It provides a nominal energy capacity of 1539.2 Wh and a capacity of 32 Ah. Its nominal voltage is 48.1 VDC, with a full-charge voltage of 55.25 VDC and a cut-off voltage of 35.75 VDC. Its lifespan is estimated at 1000 cycles at 80% State of Health (SOH). Its dimensions are 394 mm x 260 mm x 167 mm, and it weighs 10.4 kg. Operating temperatures range from -10 °C to 40 °C, charging from -15 °C to 60 °C (with a note that temperatures below 0 °C require a fast charger with battery communication), and discharging from -10 °C to 65 °C.
Design and installation
The Spirit 2 motor features a short 62.5 cm shaft and weighs 10.4 kg (tiller version, without bracket). It is designed for transom thicknesses between 28 mm and 63 mm. The tiller is foldable with 4 locking positions. The steering angle is ±90°. Tilt adjustments are available at 0°, 7°, 14°, and 21°, as well as a shallow-water angle at 35°. Tilt-up angles are 70° and 90°.
Charging and safety
The standard charger supplied, the Spirit Battery Standard Charger Ultra, accepts an input voltage of 100 to 240 V ~ 50/60 Hz. It delivers a nominal output voltage of 54.6 VDC and a nominal output current of 4 A, for a nominal power output of 218.4 W. The product complies with CCC, CE-EMC, CE-LVD, FCC, and RCM certifications.
