Detailed description
The XPLORE 12-MEGA SI+ Touchscreen Combo with Plastic Through-Hull Transducer + Temperature from Humminbird (reference XPLORE12-MSI+TP) is an integrated navigation and underwater detection solution. Designed for fishing and navigation requirements, this combo integrates a touchscreen interface and advanced MEGA SI+ sonar capabilities, paired with a plastic through-hull transducer with temperature sensor for detailed seabed and structure visualization.
Installation and Power Supply
The XPLORE 12 control display can be installed flexibly, either on a traditional bracket or mounted higher. Installation requires drilling four 4 mm (5/32") mounting holes and a 31.75 mm (1 1/4") cable pass-through hole located 50 to 100 mm (2" to 4") behind the chosen location. The unit is powered by a 12 VDC source and requires a 5A fuse (slow-blow type or equivalent MDL) for the XPLORE 12. A 2-meter power cable is included, with extensions possible using 12 AWG multistrand copper wire for lengths up to 12 feet, and 10 AWG for lengths up to 24 feet.
Connectivity and Features
The system supports NMEA 2000® connectivity (optional port) and Ethernet (optional cables and accessories), enabling integration with other marine equipment. Once installed, the combo allows GPS reception verification (Enhanced Fix or 3D Fix) and latitude/longitude position display. It also offers sonar testing and connected accessory detection to ensure optimal setup before launching. Control is via the touchscreen, with settings accessible from the home screen.
Usage Precautions
It is important to note that this device must not be used as a primary navigation aid to prevent collisions, grounding, boat damage, or personal injury. As the boat moves, water depth can change rapidly, not always allowing time to react. It is recommended to operate the boat at very slow speeds when shallow water or submerged objects are suspected.
