Detailed description
Detailed description
The Humminbird XPLORE 12 touchscreen combo is a complete solution for navigation and underwater detection, featuring a 12-inch touchscreen. This model comes with a side-mount plastic transducer, equipped with a temperature sensor, providing detailed detection of seabeds and submerged structures. Designed for reliable system integration, it delivers the tools required for optimized navigation experience.
Flexible installation and mounting
The XPLORE 12 combo is designed for versatile installation, with options for gimbal mount or overhead mounting. The mounting process involves securing the gimbal mount bracket to a stable surface protected from excessive shocks and vibrations. Sufficient space is required for cable routing and to allow the screen’s tilt range. 31.75 mm (1 1/4") holes are needed for cable pass-through, ideally located 50 to 100 mm (2" to 4") behind the chosen mounting location. For overhead installations or on thin panels, additional hardware may be required for secure mounting.
Power and network connectivity
The XPLORE 12 combo must be connected to a 12 VDC power supply and requires a 5A fuse (slow-blow type or equivalent MDL). A 2 m (6 ft) power cable is included and can be extended using 12 AWG multistrand copper wire for extensions of 1 to 12 ft, or 10 AWG for extensions of 12 to 24 ft. It is recommended to connect the unit to the boat’s fuse panel or directly to the battery, ensuring minimal interference with other marine electronics. The combo features ports for optional accessory integration, Ethernet cables, and an NMEA 2000® port, enabling expansion and networking with compatible devices.
System configuration and verification
After physical installation, commissioning the system involves initial setup via the integrated configuration guide, allowing language preferences, measurement units, time, and date to be defined. System verification is essential to confirm proper GPS reception (Enhanced Fix or 3D Fix) and display of position coordinates. Connected accessories are also listed to ensure detection. A final sonar test completes the transducer installation, preparing the XPLORE 12 combo for use at sea.
