It provides an additional 15.2 cm clearance, essential for installing accessories such as trim tabs or swim ladders without interference. This spacer is specifically designed for direct mounting on the rear transom. Using a spacer with an adapter mount is not recommended and voids the adapter mount warranty.

Installation and technical considerations

The spacer can be installed on an existing Talon system or during a new installation. It requires precise alignment of the mount with existing mounting holes or, if necessary, drilling new holes in the rear transom. It is essential to apply a 3 mm (1/8 in) bead of high-quality marine sealant (not included) around the mounting holes and on the surface of the spacer in contact with the transom to ensure lasting waterproofing. Required tools include a No. 3 Phillips screwdriver, a drill with 6.75 mm (17/64 in) and 13.09 mm (33/64 in) drill bits, scissors, an 11.11 mm (7/16 in) Allen wrench, and a 12.7 mm (1/2 in) ratchet or socket wrench.

Preventing seizing and safety

To prevent seizing of the stainless steel hardware, it is recommended to apply the provided anti-seize compound and avoid using high-speed tools during installation. Tighten the mounting bolts carefully to securely fasten the spacer to the transom. A second person is recommended to assist with handling the Talon during the installation process. The kit includes mounting bolts, washers, Nylock nuts, and anti-seize compound.
