Designed to maximize solar energy harvesting, the SmartSolar MPPT 250/60-MC4 charge controller from Victron Energy features ultra-fast MPPT technology. It automatically manages battery voltages of 12 V, 24 V, and 48 V, with a 36 V option via software tool, and delivers a nominal charging current of 60 A. This model stands out for its ability to optimize production even under cloudy skies, outperforming PWM controllers by 30 % and slower MPPT controllers by 10 %.
Advanced optimization and connectivity
The SmartSolar MPPT 250/60-MC4 can identify the optimal maximum power point (MPP) even with partial shading, avoiding lock-in on local MPPs. Its conversion efficiency exceeds 99 %, without requiring a cooling fan. Equipped with built-in Bluetooth Smart, it enables wireless configuration, monitoring, and updates via the VictronConnect app, as well as synchronization of up to 10 units for larger systems.
Built-in features and protections
This charge controller offers a flexible charging algorithm, fully programmable or selectable from eight presets via a rotary switch. It includes comprehensive electronic protections against overheating, PV short circuits, PV polarity reversal, and PV reverse current. A recovery function allows recharging of fully discharged batteries, including Li-ion batteries with built-in disconnection function. Connectivity is provided by a VE.Direct port for integration with GX devices, a programmable relay, and a remote on/off function. Compared to the 250/70 model in the same range, the 250/60 offers a nominal current capacity of 60 A versus 70 A, while retaining the same advanced tracking and management features.
