Detailed description
Detailed description
Designed for integrating heterogeneous marine systems, the AMEC NK-80 converter provides bidirectional communication between NMEA 0183 and NMEA 2000 networks. This adapter efficiently links existing NMEA 0183 devices to a modern NMEA 2000 network, facilitating the modernization of onboard navigation and sensor systems.
Connectivity and compatibility
The AMEC NK-80 supports a wide range of NMEA 2000 PGNs for transmission, including essential data such as GNSS position (129025, 129026, 129029), time and date (129033), ship heading (127250), speed through water (128259), depth (128267), and AIS data (129038, 129039, 129040, etc.). It also handles numerous NMEA 0183 sentences in input and output, including RMC, GSA, GGA, GSV, GLL, VTG, ZDA, VDM, VDO, DSC, RSA, VHW, VLW, DPT, DBT, XTE, APB, ROT, VWR, MWV, MWD, MTW, VDR, BWC, and BWR. NMEA 0183 baud rates are configurable at 4800, 9600, or 38400 bps, offering flexibility for integration with various equipment.
Design and technical features
With compact dimensions and a weight under 150 g, the NK-80 installs easily in confined spaces. It is powered directly from the NMEA 2000 bus (typical 12VDC / 24VDC). Its design is suited for marine environments, operating between -20°C and +55°C. Two LED indicators (LED 1 blue for NMEA 2000, LED 2 green for NMEA 0183) display activity and operational status, flashing simultaneously every 5 seconds in normal mode. A PC configuration utility allows managing product properties, NMEA 0183 baud rates, data rates, and message filters.
