Detailed description
Detailed description
Designed for propulsion of dinghies, tenders, sailboats and small fishing boats up to 1,000 kg, the ePropulsion Spirit 1.0 Plus electric outboard motor delivers 1 kW of power, equivalent to a 3 HP gasoline outboard. This long-shaft version (75 cm / 29.5 in) is supplied with a removable 1,276 Wh (28 Ah) Spirit Battery Plus.
Performance and Range
The Spirit 1.0 Plus delivers a static thrust of 316 N (32 kg) and achieves a maximum efficiency of 55%. Its brushless DC motor and natural cooling system ensure quiet operation (max 60 dB) and zero emissions. In the manufacturer test, the removable battery on the 48 V system provided approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes of runtime at full power (10 km/h), with a range of about 12.5 km. At 25% power (250 W), the range can reach 35 km at 7 km/h. The battery is removable, waterproof (IP67) and buoyant, with a lifespan of 500 cycles at 80% discharge.
Design and Features
Weighing 10.8 kg without the battery and 19.6 kg with its 8.7 kg battery, this unit remains easy to handle. The integrated tiller control system features a digital display for real-time monitoring of power, remaining range and battery level. Electric start is achieved with a single button, complemented by a magnetic kill cord for safety. The progressive throttle ensures smooth operation in forward and reverse, and can be used from either side. Trim angles are manually adjustable (0°, 7°, 14°, 21°), with a tilt angle of 70°.
Charging and Compatibility
The battery charges in 8.5 hours with a standard charger or 3.5 hours with a fast charger. To extend range, the Spirit 1.0 Plus is compatible with ePropulsion external batteries in the E series and can be charged via solar charging accessories. Maintenance is limited to rinsing with fresh water after use in saltwater and cleaning electrical contacts.
Range and installation: the quoted speeds, runtimes and ranges come from ePropulsion tests on a 12-foot aluminium boat with one operator in calm water. Results vary with vessel, load, weather and power setting; no runtime is guaranteed. The Spirit Battery Plus is removable. Use its specified charger and connectors, or a separately validated 48 V external installation. After motor submersion, stop using it and have it inspected before reuse.
Official ePropulsion Spirit 1.0 Plus user manual, version 2.9 (English/German PDF) — covers long, short and extra-short shafts.
