Expert opinion

« Analysis of RAM Mounts horizontal mount for 5–7 inch combos »

The RAM-111U bracket, designated under the reference RA-H2, is a drilled-mounting solution designed for the stable integration of 5 to 7 inch marine electronic displays. Its design makes it a relevant choice for vessels requiring a permanent and secure installation of a compact screen.

This type of bracket is ideal for helm stations or control panels where space is optimized and where direct and adjustable visibility of the display is prioritized. The drilled installation ensures a robust mounting, resistant to vibrations and boat movements, unlike temporary solutions. It allows precise positioning of the screen for optimal usability, whether for chart reading, fishfinder monitoring, or engine data display.

Its design is particularly suited to recreational boats, sailboats, or small fishing vessels, where a 5 to 7 inch screen can serve as a primary chartplotter or data repeater. It offers an alternative to flush-mounts that do not allow screen orientation, while ensuring superior stability compared to clamp or suction cup mounts.

It is important to note that installing the RA-H2 requires a flat and solid support surface for drilling and mounting, as well as sufficient access underneath for the fasteners. This bracket is not designed for screens larger than 7 inches, for which larger mounting systems would be required to ensure the same level of stability and safety.

Is it possible to adjust the angle and orientation of the unit once it is mounted on the RA-H2?

Yes, the RA-H2 mount is designed to provide extensive adjustment flexibility. With its dual-sleeve arm and C-size balls (1.5 inches), you can easily tilt and swivel your electronic device for the optimal viewing angle. The sleeves allow for firm clamping to maintain the desired position, even in marine conditions.

How to install the RA-H2 mount on my boat?

The RA-H2 mount is installed by screwing it directly onto a flat surface. It features a round drill-down base that requires screws for secure attachment. Mounting screws are not usually included and must be selected based on the material of your mounting surface to ensure optimal and secure fastening.
