Marine circuit breakers to protect onboard circuits

A circuit breaker protects a cable and its circuit from overcurrent while allowing reset after tripping. Onboard, it is selected based on rating, voltage, interrupting rating, mounting type, environment, and circuit role: electronics, pumps, windlass, bow thruster, charger, DC distribution, or main panel.

Panel-mounted circuit breakers: lever, rocker, and push-button

Panel-mounted circuit breakers are installed on the front panel and can serve both as protection and switching devices. Blue Sea Systems offers breaker ranges including the Series A lever-type unipolar or flat rocker unipolar breakers, as well as push-button reset breakers. These formats suit electrical panels and service circuits when the rating matches the cable cross-section.

Series 285 and 187 for power circuits

Series 285 and 187 breakers are used for higher-current circuits or installations near batteries, junction boxes, and distribution panels. Series 285 is available in surface-mount or panel-mount versions. Series 187 also covers surface and panel versions, with power ratings such as the Series 187 - Surface-mount 80 A or the Series 187 - Surface-mount 200 A.

BEP breakers and high-current protection

BEP breakers complement the selection for power circuits and distribution assemblies. The 80 A thermal circuit breaker illustrates panel-mount resettable thermal breakers, while the 80 A HD reset breaker serves surface-mount applications. For higher currents, options include the 150 A HD breaker, the 150 A resettable HD breaker, or the 50 A HD breaker, depending on mounting and cable cross-section.

Blocks, panels, and accessories

For organized distribution, the ST CLB 6-position breaker block with negative busbar groups multiple circuits with a negative busbar. BEP panels, such as the 16-circuit 12 V DC square panel, the 12-circuit 12 V DC vertical panel, the 12-circuit 12 V DC horizontal panel, or the 8-circuit 12 V DC horizontal unipolar panel, cater to multi-circuit panels.
