Detailed description
Designed for safety at sea, the ACR Firefly PRO Waterbug distress beacon is a SOLAS-certified emergency signaling device featuring automatic water activation and manual activation. It is intended to enhance visibility and facilitate recovery of persons who have fallen overboard in various marine conditions.
Light performance and visibility
The Firefly PRO Waterbug uses a cold white LED to produce a light intensity of over 41 candelas. Its 360° beam is visible over more than 3 nautical miles, enabling long-range detection. The beacon flashes at a rate of 60 times per minute, optimizing visibility even in low-light or adverse weather conditions. It also offers an SOS mode and a continuous mode for short-range recovery operations.
Activation and battery life
Equipped with dual integrated water sensors, this beacon activates automatically upon contact with water, in addition to its manual on/off switch. It operates on two AA batteries (alkaline or lithium for extended performance). Battery life exceeds 56 hours in strobe mode, surpassing USCG and SOLAS requirements of 48 hours. In continuous mode, it provides 28 hours of operation.
Robust design and certifications
The Firefly PRO Waterbug housing is made of shock-resistant polycarbonate, compliant with military specifications, and offers IP67 protection, factory-tested to 10 meters depth. Its design ensures resistance to corrosion and UV exposure, guaranteeing reliability in harsh marine environments. This device is certified SOLAS, USCG, MED, TSO-C85b, IMO LSA, CE, and Transport Canada, attesting to its compliance with international maritime safety standards. Its compact dimensions of 11.7 x 5.7 x 2.8 cm and weight of 68 g (without batteries) make it easy to integrate into a lifejacket or other equipment.
