Detailed description
Detailed description
The AMPHENOL PROCOM MA 2-1SC-SHT marine VHF antenna is a professional-grade communication solution designed specifically for vessels where space and height are critical constraints. At just 550 mm long, it fits perfectly on sailboats, high-speed powerboats, or as a reliable backup antenna without compromising the robustness and reliability that define the Danish brand.
Compact design and optimized performance
Based on a reduced ½ λ dipole (end-fed) architecture, this antenna is optimized for the marine VHF frequency band of 156 to 162 MHz. Its compact size is a deliberate design choice. Unlike standard, longer antennas that seek high positive gain, the MA 2-1SC-SHT delivers a gain of -3 dBd (-0.9 dBi) with a minimal footprint. This makes it ideal for installations where a longer antenna would be impractical, exposed to impacts, or aesthetically undesirable.
Technical specifications
The MA 2-1SC-SHT antenna supports a maximum input power of 50 W, making it compatible with all fixed VHF radios on the market. It provides 360° coverage thanks to its vertical polarization and omnidirectional radiation pattern. The nominal impedance is 50 Ω with a Voltage Standing Wave Ratio (VSWR) below 2.0:1 across a 6 MHz bandwidth, ensuring efficient transmission of transmitter power. Connection is via a standard and robust UHF female (UHF(f)) connector.
Robustness and durability in marine environments
Manufactured in Denmark, the MA 2-1SC-SHT is built to high standards. The whip is made of fiberglass with an internal copper wire, all coated in polyethylene for maximum protection. The housing and connection components are made of bright chrome-plated brass, offering excellent resistance to corrosion in saline environments. Designed to operate in extreme conditions, its operating temperature range extends from -30 °C to +70 °C.
