Detailed description
Detailed description
Designed for racing and demanding cruising, the B&G WS740S Ocean Spec vertical wind sensor (1800 mm) provides precise and reliable wind data acquisition. This sensor features a 1.8-meter (1800 mm) high-modulus "Ocean Spec" carbon mast, positioning the vane in clear airflow to minimize disturbances to the sail plan at the mast.
Accuracy and Aerodynamics
The WS740S is equipped with a new one-piece vane design, the result of over 200,000 hours of development and wind-tunnel testing. This design ensures high aerodynamic stability, guaranteeing accurate measurement of wind angle and speed. This precision contributes to reliable race calls and improved autopilot performance.
Integration and Robustness
The WS740S wind sensor connects directly to B&G H5000 or WTP3 systems via an NMEA 0183 input, transmitting MWV, R sentences at 10Hz. It can also integrate with NMEA 2000® systems via an optional wired interface (sold separately). Installation is simplified, requiring a single mast cable (available in lengths from 25 to 80 meters). With a typical power consumption of less than 0.2W and a supply voltage range of 9 to 16V DC (nominal 12V DC), the WS740S is designed for energy efficiency. Its robust design, validated in ocean racing conditions, and its IPX6 waterproof rating make it resistant to harsh marine environments. It complies with IEC/EN 60945 standards.
Its nominal dimensions are 356 x 1800 x 25 mm and its weight is 0.6 kg. It operates in a temperature range of -15°C to +55°C and can be stored from -20°C to +60°C.
