Detailed description
Detailed description
Designed for automatic management of dual-battery bank systems, the Blue Sea m-Series 7601 Automatic Charging Relay (ACR) ensures efficient power distribution for 12V DC or 24V DC installations. This model is ideal for motorboats, recreational vehicles, and off-grid power systems requiring a continuous charge capacity of up to 65 amperes and 115 amperes intermittent (5 minutes).
Features and technical performance
The m-Series 7601 automatically combines batteries during charging and isolates them during discharge or shutdown, optimizing power availability and protecting the starter battery. With dual-sensing capability, it detects a load on either battery bank. It includes a Start Isolation (SI) function that safeguards sensitive electronic equipment from voltage drops and spikes during engine start-up. Compared to traditional diode-based battery isolators, ACRs like the 7601 offer superior efficiency, generating less heat and consuming minimal charge energy.
Safety and installation
This relay is flame-resistant, compliant with external ignition protection requirements per ISO 8846 and SAE J1171, making it safe for installation on gasoline-powered boats. Its IP67 rating ensures protection against temporary immersion up to 1 meter for 30 minutes. Voltage thresholds for combining are 13.6V DC (30 sec) or 13.0V DC (2 min) for 12V systems, and 27.2V DC (30 sec) or 26.0V DC (2 min) for 24V systems. Isolation occurs at 12.75V DC (30 sec) or 12.35V DC (10 sec) for 12V systems. It features 1/4"-20 (M6) stud terminals and accepts cables up to 1/0 AWG, with a recommended size of 6 AWG (16 mm²) to meet nominal current ratings. An integrated LED indicator provides visual status updates on ACR modes, including charging, isolation, undervoltage, and fault conditions. A removable insulating cover and a 1/4" x .032" quick-connect ground terminal are included to simplify installation and protect terminals.
