Detailed description
Detailed description
The BLUE SEA ML-RBS 7700 is a remote magnetic battery switch designed for managing high-current 12V DC circuits. It offers a continuous switching capacity of 500A and up to 1450A peak (30 seconds), enabling reliable isolation of battery banks or connection of heavy loads.
Design and technical performance
This battery switch stands out with its bistable magnetic latching design, meaning it consumes no current in the ON or OFF state, only during state changes (less than 7A for 20 ms). This feature differentiates it from traditional solenoids, which require continuous current draw, thus optimizing the system’s energy consumption. The contacts are made of silver alloy, ensuring high reliability for switching under load, with a lifespan of 10,000 cycles at 12V/300A.
Features and integration
The ML-RBS 7700 includes a manual override control, providing an additional safety level for ON/OFF operation with or without power, and a "LOCK OFF" function for electrical system maintenance. It features 3/8"-16 (M10) tinned copper terminals for maximum conductivity and corrosion resistance, with a maximum tightening torque of 15.8 N•m (140 in-lb). A remote LED indicator can be connected to monitor the switch state. Compared to other models in the ML series, such as the 7713 which includes an "Auto-Releasing" function for emergency starts from a depleted battery bank, the 7700 prioritizes energy conservation thanks to its magnetic latching. This product meets external ignition protection requirements ISO 8846 and SAE J1171 and is rated IP66.
