Designed for exposed marine environments such as open cockpits and flybridges, the BLUE SEA WeatherDeck® 12V DC waterproof fuse panel, model 4308, provides centralized electrical management for 8 circuits. This panel stands out for its resistance to the elements thanks to an IP67 certification on the front face when correctly installed with its sealing gasket, ensuring protection against immersion up to 1 meter for 30 minutes. It integrates an ATO/ATC fuse protection system with 15A per circuit, with a cumulative panel capacity of 100A.
Advanced features and integration
Each circuit of the WeatherDeck® 4308 panel is equipped with bi-color LEDs that clearly indicate the status: red for off, green for on, and no color in case of a blown fuse. The label backlighting is independent, allowing remote switching and dimming, compatible with Blue Sea Systems digital dimmers. This integration flexibility is complemented by the ability to mount the panel in four different orientations. The materials used, including reinforced polycarbonate and a UV-stabilized front plate, as well as the waterproof boots for the switches, ensure enhanced durability in marine conditions. The panel dimensions are 195.58 mm in height, 98.55 mm in width, and 63.5 mm in depth, weighing 0.7 kg.
Navigation light management and comparison
A specific feature of the WeatherDeck® 4308 panel is its ability to manage navigation lights via a "NAV Diode" circuit. This function allows powering a 360° anchor light independently or simultaneously with the bicolor bow lights, using a 16 AWG jumper between the "NAV Diode" tab and the output terminal of switch #3. Compared to lower-position WeatherDeck models (2, 4, or 6 positions), the 4308 offers increased capacity with 8 circuits, making it suitable for installations requiring more electrical controls. While competing panels may offer similar protections, the BLUE SEA WeatherDeck series focuses on robustness and ease of integration for wet environments.
