Detailed description
The FURUNO M364C 30Hz is a stabilized IP thermal camera designed for marine navigation and situational awareness. This system integrates a high-resolution thermal camera and a color daytime camera, providing comprehensive vision in various conditions. It is a camera from FLIR’s M300 series, distributed by Furuno, and recognized for its advanced multispectral imaging capabilities and robust design.
Advanced imaging sensors
The M364C is equipped with a thermal camera featuring a 640x512 pixel VOx microbolometer detector, offering a 30 Hz refresh rate. Its field of view (FoV) is 24° x 18°, with a fixed 18 mm focal length and continuous 4x digital zoom. The color daytime camera uses a 1/2.8" Exmor R CMOS sensor, delivering HD resolution up to 1080/30p and a powerful 30x optical zoom. Its optical FoV ranges from 63.7° x 35.8° (wide-angle) to 2.3° x 1.29° (telephoto), with a focal length from 4.3 mm to 129 mm. It operates with a minimum illumination of 0.1 lux (50 IRE) under standard conditions and down to 0.0008 lux (30 IRE) with high sensitivity.
Stabilization and connectivity
The system features 2-axis gyroscopic mechanical stabilization, incorporating an AHRS sensor for stable images even in rough seas. The camera offers a 360° continuous pan and +/- 90° tilt range. Video outputs include analog (NTSC/PAL, BNC connector), HD-SDI, and two independent IP video streams in H.264. Connectivity is provided via Ethernet (RayNet, RJ45), enabling seamless integration with multifunction displays (MFD) from brands such as Furuno, Garmin, Raymarine, and Simrad. The housing is rated IPX6, resistant to harsh marine environments, with an operating temperature range from -25°C to +55°C. The camera weighs 6.3 kg (without mounting adapter) or 6.75 kg (with mounting adapter) and measures 222.2 mm in base diameter by 328.3 mm in height.
Advanced features
The M364C 30Hz integrates FLIR Color Thermal Vision (CTV) technology, which merges thermal imaging and HD color video to display colored details in the thermal image, enhancing nighttime target identification. FLIR MSX® technology overlays visible-edge details from the color camera onto the thermal image for improved recognition. Marine Video Analytics (MVA) functions enable automatic detection and highlighting of non-aquatic objects. A joystick control unit (JCU1 or JCU2) is available as an option for precise control. Compatibility with ClearCruise™ Augmented Reality, via Raymarine Axiom MFDs, allows real-time overlay of AIS targets, chart objects, and waypoints on the video image.
