Detailed description
Detailed description
Designed for underwater detection, the through-hull Garmin AIRMAR B175M transducer with 20° tilt is a 1 kW CHIRP transducer. It provides accurate depth and water temperature readings, essential for navigation and fishing.
Design and Compatibility
This transducer features a robust bronze housing designed for flush through-hull installation. Its fixed 20° tilted element corrects the boat’s deadrise angle, allowing the transducer to operate horizontally and maximize echo returns without requiring a fairing block. This design makes it compatible with deadrise angles from 16° to 24°. The low-profile housing, protruding less than 0.6 cm from the hull, makes it suitable for trailerable boats. It is particularly well-suited for fiberglass and wooden hulls but is not recommended for steel hulls or core hulls without specific preparation.
Sonar Performance
The B175M uses CHIRP technology for improved resolution and target separation. It operates on a mid CHIRP frequency band from 85 kHz to 135 kHz, offering a total bandwidth of 50 kHz. This frequency range ensures a balance between coverage, depth, and return quality, enabling effective detection of the bottom, fish schools, and underwater structures down to 457 meters (1,500 feet). The transducer also integrates fast-response depth and water temperature sensors. The Xducer ID® technology simplifies setup with compatible Garmin fishfinders. It is equipped with an 8-pin Garmin connector and a 39-foot (approximately 11.89-meter) cable.
