Updates and compatibility
Purchase includes a one-year subscription for daily updates, accessible via the ActiveCaptain® app. This app also provides access to community content and facilitates route planning. After the first year, an active subscription is required to continue receiving updates and new content, typically more cost-effective than purchasing a new chart. It is recommended to verify compatibility with your Garmin chartplotter before purchase.
Navigation features
These charts offer high-level detail for coastal, lacustrine, and riverine features. They display shaded depth contours to visualize underwater topography and shallow-water coloring to identify areas to avoid. Auto Guidance+ technology provides suggested dock-to-dock routes, though this feature is for planning only and does not replace safe navigation. Users also benefit from community edits (points of interest), a seabed sedimentation palette for anchoring and fishing, and downloadable NOAA raster charts via ActiveCaptain® for a paper-chart-like view.
Premium features (Vision+)
Premium options (Garmin Navionics Vision+) enhance the experience with high-resolution shaded relief, combining colors and shadows for clear interpretation of seabed structure. They also include high-resolution satellite imagery and aerial photos of ports, marinas, and navigation landmarks. 3D views such as MarinerEye 3D (above and below waterline environment representation) and FishEye 3D (underwater perspective based on sonar echoes) are available. Sonar imagery reveals seabed hardness with contrasting colors, highlighting transition zones.
