Detailed description
The Glomex GL-RA201 multiplexer is designed to optimize the installation of communication and navigation systems on vessels. It allows connecting a single VHF antenna to three separate devices: a VHF radio, an AIS receiver, and an AM/FM radio. This solution simplifies wiring and reduces the number of antennas required on board.
Signal management and performance
This multiplexer features a coaxial input for the antenna and three dedicated outputs. It handles radio reception across a range of 100 kHz to 200 MHz, including GO/PO/OC/FM bands, as well as VHF marine and amateur transmission and reception from 100 MHz to 200 MHz. AIS reception is also covered within the 100 MHz to 200 MHz range. A shared 15 dB preamplifier across two inputs compensates for signal losses and ensures optimal performance.
Compatibility and construction
The Glomex GL-RA201 supports VHF transmission power ranging from a minimum of 0.2 watts to a maximum of 100 watts. It is built with anti-diffusion epoxy-metal paint for high resistance to rust and oxidation. The unit is protected by a fast-blow 5x20 mm - 315 mA fuse. Connections include a SO-239 jack for the VHF antenna, a 60 cm RG-58 C/U cable with male PL-259 connector for the VHF radio, a 60 cm RG-59 A/U cable with male Motorola connector for the AM/FM radio, and a 60 cm RG-58 C/U cable with male BNC connector for the AIS receiver. The device operates on a 12V DC power supply (10–16Vdc) and draws a maximum of 25 mA. Its compact dimensions are 83 mm in length, 48 mm in width, and 38 mm in height.
