Designed for the marine environment, the JL Audio M6-650X-S-GwGw-i flush-mount marine speakers are 6.5-inch (165 mm) 2-way coaxial speakers. They are specifically engineered to deliver high-performance audio reproduction in open boat spaces.
Audio Performance and Marine Durability
These speakers handle a continuous RMS power of 75 watts per speaker, with a peak musical power of 150 watts. Recommended amplifier power ranges from 25 to 150 watts per channel. They feature a nominal impedance of 4 ohms and a frequency response of 55 Hz to 25 kHz (25,000 Hz) ± 3 dB, with an efficiency of 89.5 dB @ 1 W / 1 m.
The woofer has an injection-molded polypropylene cone with mica filling, UV inhibitors, and a synthetic rubber surround. Its long-throw design is optimized by JL Audio’s DMA (Dynamic Motor Analysis) technology for improved output and low-frequency response. The tweeter is a 0.8-inch (20 mm or 3/4") pure silk dome, marine-treated, using neodymium magnets and ferrofluid cooling for enhanced response and power handling. A passive 2-way crossover is integrated into the terminal assembly, protecting against vibration and corrosion, and includes electronic tweeter protection circuitry.
Marine-Specific Design and LED Lighting
The construction of these speakers is marine-specific, designed to withstand harsh sea conditions. They feature UV- and corrosion-resistant polymer baskets and grilles. The JL Audio M6-650X-S-GwGw-i flush-mount marine speakers are optimized for infinite baffle operation and do not require a dedicated enclosure.
These speakers are equipped with patent-pending Transflective™ RGB LED lighting, which delivers a uniform, hotspot-free light effect through the woofer cone. Users can select from seven fixed lighting colors or control color and intensity via an optional RGB lighting controller (sold separately). A separate 12V wiring harness is required for powering the lighting. The grilles are finished in bright white.
Installation Dimensions
Installation dimensions include a mounting depth of 3.00 inches (76 mm) and a cutout diameter of 4.979 to 5.25 inches (127 to 133 mm). The outer frame diameter is 6.90 inches (175 mm), the bolt hole circle diameter is 6.13 inches (156 mm), and the front grille protrusion is 0.94 inch (24 mm).
