Designed for the marine environment, the JL Audio M3-650X-S-Gm-i 6.5-inch coaxial marine speakers provide a robust and high-performance audio solution. These 2-way speakers integrate features suited for offshore use, combining clear sound reproduction with enhanced durability against the elements. They feature a sport grille in anthracite gray and integrated RGB LED lighting.
Marine Audio Performance
The JL Audio M3-650X-S-Gm-i speakers are equipped with a 6.5-inch (165 mm) woofer with injection-molded polypropylene cone loaded with mica, incorporating UV inhibitors. The synthetic rubber surround and long-throw design optimized by JL Audio’s Dynamic Motor Analysis (DMA) improve output, bass extension, and power handling. The 0.75-inch (19 mm) silk dome tweeter with neodymium magnet and ferrofluid cooling delivers precise response and power handling. RMS power is 60 watts per speaker, with a peak musical power of 225 watts. Nominal impedance is 4 ohms, and frequency response ranges from 55 Hz to 25,000 Hz (± 3 dB). System efficiency is 89.5 dB at 1W/1m.
Marine-Environment-Specific Design
The construction of the M3-650X-S-Gm-i speakers is engineered for the marine environment, exceeding industry standards for salt fog and UV resistance. They use UV- and corrosion-resistant polymer baskets and grilles. Optimized for infinite baffle operation, these speakers do not require a dedicated enclosure and can be installed in various configurations with a minimum air volume of 0.05 cubic meters (2 cubic feet) for optimal performance. The 12 dB/octave tweeter crossover includes a polyswitch semiconductor protection circuit to minimize tweeter failure risks.
Integrated RGB LED Lighting
These speakers feature integrated RGB LED lighting on the woofer cone. The LEDs can be wired to produce up to seven fixed colors. For adjustable control and a wider color range, an RGB lighting controller is available separately. Each speaker requires a separate 12V wiring for the LED function. Installation must include a 150 mA fast-blow inline fuse on the positive LED cable to protect the LEDs and speaker from excessive current, reducing fire or damage risks.
