Designed for the marine environment, the JL Audio M3-770X-C-Gw flush-mount marine speakers are 7.7-inch 2-way coaxial models. They feature a mica-injected polypropylene woofer cone with UV inhibitors and a synthetic rubber surround, optimized for long excursion and infinite baffle operation. The 0.75-inch (19 mm) treated silk dome tweeter is specifically designed to withstand marine conditions.
Marine Audio Performance
These speakers deliver a continuous power (RMS) of 70 Watts per speaker (140 Watts per pair) and a peak power of 225 Watts. The frequency response ranges from 45 Hz to 25 kHz (± 3 dB) with a system efficiency of 90.5 dB at 1W/1m, ensuring detailed and powerful sound reproduction in open environments. The nominal impedance is 4 ohms, and the recommended amplifier power is 20 to 140 Watts RMS per channel.
Design and Marine Durability
The JL Audio M3-770X-C-Gw incorporate corrosion- and UV-resistant materials, exceeding industry standards for salt and sun exposure. Polymer baskets encapsulate the woofer motor system to prevent corrosion. Their oversized 7.7-inch design improves efficiency and mid-bass response compared to 6.5-inch models. The woofers are optimized to operate without a dedicated enclosure, though an air volume of at least 2 cubic feet is recommended for optimal performance. JL Audio’s Dynamic Motor Analysis (DMA) technology optimizes motor dynamic behavior for reduced distortion and better bass extension. The tweeter includes a self-resetting overload protection circuit. The cutout diameter is 6.25 inches (159 mm) with a mounting depth of 3.15 inches (80 mm). White "Classic" grilles are included. The M3 speakers are positioned to offer marine performance at a more accessible price than JL Audio’s M6 models.
