Designed for demanding marine environments, the JL Audio M6-770X-L-SbSb 7.7-inch (196 mm) flush-mount coaxial marine speaker delivers high-fidelity audio. This 2-way model features an injection-molded polypropylene cone woofer with mica reinforcement and a synthetic rubber surround, optimized for long excursion and reduced distortion via JL Audio’s DMA modeling.
Audio performance and design
The M6-770X-L-SbSb includes a 1-inch (25 mm) treated silk dome tweeter with neodymium magnet and Ferrofluid cooling for improved response and power handling. It handles a continuous power (RMS) rating of 100 watts, with a recommended amplifier power of 40 to 200 watts per channel. Nominal system impedance is 4 ohms, with an efficiency of 91.0 dB at 1W/1m. Frequency response spans 45 Hz to 25 kHz ± 3 dB. A sophisticated 2-way crossover network with 1st-order low-pass and 2nd-order high-pass circuits is integrated into the woofer frame and protected against vibration and corrosion. It also includes an automatic polyswitch tweeter protection circuit.
Marine durability and installation
The JL Audio M6-770X-L-SbSb exceeds industry standards for salt fog and UV resistance. UV- and corrosion-resistant polymer baskets and grilles, along with encapsulated woofer motor systems, prevent corrosion in saltwater environments. The speaker is optimized for infinite baffle operation, requiring no dedicated enclosure. Its frame has an outer diameter of 9.13 inches (232 mm), a cutout diameter of 7.50 inches (191 mm), and a mounting depth of 4.26 inches (108 mm). The low-profile Luxe black grille, with integrated tweeter bridge and fine mesh, protrudes only 0.38 inches (10 mm), blending discreetly into marine installations. All M6 speakers are manufactured at JL Audio’s Miramar, Florida facility using global components.
