Designed for full immersion in marine sound environments, the JL Audio M6-8TIB-L-GwSw-8 marine subwoofer is an 8-inch (200 mm) woofer from the M6 series. It is optimized to deliver precise and powerful bass reproduction, even in demanding marine environments.
Acoustic Performance and Robust Design
This marine subwoofer handles a continuous power of 200 Watts RMS, with a recommended amplifier power between 50 and 200 Watts RMS, and features a nominal impedance of 4 Ohms. Its sensitivity of 86.8 dB (1W/1m) ensures acoustic efficiency. The design is optimized by DMA (Dynamic Motor Analysis), allowing a linear excursion of 14 mm (Xmax) for deep bass with reduced distortion and improved transient response. The cone is made of injection-molded polypropylene filled with mica, complemented by a foam surround, ensuring durability and performance.
Flexible Installation and Marine Durability
The JL Audio M6-8TIB-L-GwSw-8 is primarily designed for infinite baffle operation, using a large volume of air behind it (minimum 42.5 L), eliminating the need for a dedicated enclosure. For custom installations, it can be integrated into a sealed enclosure (recommended internal net volume of 56.66 L) or vented (recommended internal net volume of 42.5 L). With a mounting depth of 127 mm and a cutout diameter of 187 mm, it fits into various configurations. Its construction meets marine standards, resisting salt spray and UV exposure, and the front face features IPX5 protection against low-pressure water jets. All M6 speakers are manufactured at JL Audio’s factory in Miramar, Florida.
Esthetics and Visual Integration
This subwoofer features a "Luxe" style with a discreet mounting ring and a fine-mesh grille, offering a refined appearance and minimal protrusion of 37 mm. It includes a patented RGB Transflective™ LED lighting system that casts soft, uniform illumination through the woofer cone, providing multiple color options. An optional RGB controller (sold separately) is required to adjust the lighting. The grille and trim ring are removable, allowing custom painting to match the boat’s aesthetics.
