Detailed description
The Lowrance 52" lower unit kit is a critical component designed specifically for the maintenance, repair, or upgrade of the front motor section in the Ghost series. With a 52-inch shaft, this kit targets demanding anglers and sailors operating in freshwater, requiring flawless reliability from their equipment. Engineered to integrate seamlessly with systems operating under 24 V or 36 V DC, this replacement motor block ensures immediate resumption of on-water activities with the brand’s characteristic performance.
Compatibility and network integration
This lower unit kit is designed to interface seamlessly with the Lowrance ecosystem. It is compatible with NMEA 2000 and Bluetooth networks, ensuring smooth communication with the brand’s multifunction displays (MFD). For optimal operation—particularly the display of data from the integrated depth sounder in the electric motor—using screens such as the Lowrance HDS Pro, HDS Live, HDS Carbon, or Elite FS with the latest software version is required. The system includes specific connectors: a Micro-C connector for the NMEA 2000 network, a 9-pin mini connector for the transducer, and a 5-pin connector for the TMC-1 compass.
Technical specifications and robustness
The 52-inch shaft offers an ideal compromise for many vessels, ensuring a minimum immersion depth of 300 mm (12 inches) for optimal propeller operation. The system is designed to handle a nominal current of 50 A. Regarding the depth sounder, classic Ghost models feature a pre-installed HDI conical tip, guaranteeing accurate seabed readings. The mechanical design specifies a propeller nut torque of 13 Nm, ensuring a secure and robust attachment. Regular maintenance, such as annual greasing of the front locking block with calcium sulfonate marine grease, ensures the longevity of the assembly.
Advanced maintenance and diagnostics
Lowrance has integrated advanced visual and audible diagnostic functions to simplify maintenance of this kit. The LED direction indicator provides real-time system status information: from routine use (clear distinction between 24 V and 36 V systems) to software incompatibility alerts signaled by 10 rapid triple flashes. Audible signals confirm actions such as activating anchor mode (1 short tone) or completing calibration (3 long tones). These built-in tools enable users and technicians to quickly identify intervention needs, such as recalibrating the bow offset in case of GPS signal loss.
