Designed for demanding onboard charging systems, the Mastervolt ALPHACOMPACT 14-120 MB N62 mounting kit is a high-performance alternator optimized for continuous power output. Specifically tailored for Mercedes-Benz N62 engines, this 12V DC alternator delivers a nominal current of 120 A at 6000 rpm (at 25°C), with a charging capacity of 70 A from 1800 rpm. Its engagement speed is 1300 rpm and it supports a maximum rotation speed of 20 000 rpm, providing a power output of 3.4 kW (4.5 hp).
Design and Performance
The ALPHACOMPACT 14-120 alternator integrates an Alpha Pro III charge regulator as standard, providing an out-of-the-box solution for efficient battery management. Its patented design, featuring an open structure and dual internal fans, makes it up to 40% lighter and 25% more compact than conventional alternators. It is designed to operate in high-temperature environments up to 120 °C, with protection for cables and electronic components against oil, moisture, and dirt. Its rotation is clockwise and it features non-insulated galvanic isolation, though insulation is possible with optional rings (not compatible with N62).
Integration and Compatibility
Weighing 6.7 kg, this alternator is equipped with a swivel arm for mounting. Connections include a positive output stud (2x M8), an isolated fast-response W (rpm) signal connection, and a Mastervolt field current connection. A temperature sensor is integrated with an RJ12 connection. The Mastervolt ALPHACOMPACT 14-120 is compatible with all battery types, including Lithium-Ion batteries, and contributes to up to 30% fuel consumption reduction. It is used in marine, mobile, infrastructure, and industrial sectors worldwide.
