Detailed description
Detailed description
The Mastervolt ChargeMaster Plus 24/80-2 is a versatile battery charger designed for marine and mobile applications. It integrates multiple functions into a single device, simplifying electrical installations and reducing costs by replacing auxiliary chargers, battery isolators, and load distributors (VSR).
Charging Architecture and Performance
This charger provides a nominal output voltage of 24V DC with a total charging current of 80 amperes at 28.8V. It features two battery outputs, with a programmable secondary output of 5-15 A at 12 V or 5-20 A at 24 V, allowing management of different battery banks. The ChargeMaster Plus is compatible with a wide range of battery chemistries, including lead-acid (flooded, AGM, Gel) and Lithium Ion, as well as user-defined options. It uses an automatic 3-step+ IUoUo charging process for fast and safe charging. Its battery bank management capacity ranges from 280 to 700 Ah. Temperature compensation (-60 mV/°C) and DC voltage compensation are included to optimize battery lifespan. The "Revival" mode automatically recovers deeply discharged batteries, while the "Priority Charge" function directs available power to the weakest battery for accelerated charging.
Connectivity and System Integration
The ChargeMaster Plus 24/80-2 features a universal AC input, accepting voltages from 80 to 275 V AC and frequencies from 35 to 70 Hz, ensuring global compatibility and resistance to voltage fluctuations. It can also operate in power supply mode for sensitive equipment or during boat construction. Its DC-side power consumption is less than 2 mA when MasterBus is disabled. The device is equipped with galvanic isolation and an LED display for operational status. It supports MasterBus, CZone, and NMEA 2000 communication standards, enabling full integration with monitoring and control systems. Connections are robust and ergonomic for easy installation. The charger complies with CE, ABYC, UL1236, SAE J1171, ISO 8846, CEC/DOE, RCM/C-Tick, and RRR standards, with an IP23 protection rating. Its dimensions are 384 x 250 x 127 mm and it weighs 6.3 kg.
