Detailed description
Detailed description
The NAVICO N2K power isolator is a critical component designed to optimize the reliability and stability of NMEA 2000 marine networks. It electrically isolates power segments while maintaining continuous, bidirectional data communication. This function prevents the propagation of electrical issues such as noise, voltage spikes, and short circuits across the network.
Network protection and integrity
Model 000-12259-001 features a 5-pin inline female-to-male connector, simplifying integration into any NMEA 2000 installation. It is fully compatible with NMEA 2000-certified networks and devices, including Simrad, Lowrance, and B&G equipment. Its robust design, with a fully marine-grade plastic housing, resists harsh environmental conditions, preventing rust and corrosion. Dimensions are approximately 3 x 2 x 1 inches, with a weight of about 0.15 lbs.
Enhanced reliability and application flexibility
In addition to isolating power, the N2K power isolator effectively prevents ground loops that can disrupt communication signals in complex electrical systems. It maintains stable voltage across long or multi-segment backbones and prevents back-feeding between different power sources. This isolator is particularly useful for NMEA 2000 networks requiring multiple power supplies, enabling network expansion, segment isolation, and efficient troubleshooting. It can also help manage voltage drops on long networks and allows powering down one bus while another remains operational to reduce battery current draw.
