Detailed description
Detailed description
Designed for precise marine navigation, the Navico POINT-1 AP Autopilot GPS and heading antenna is an NMEA 2000® sensor that integrates advanced features for autopilot systems and multifunction displays. It provides position and boat speed updates at a 10 Hz rate, ensuring smooth and rapid location and heading tracking on the network. Its built-in electronic compass guarantees heading accuracy to within +/- 3°, essential for chart stabilization and radar overlay, even at low speed.
Positioning and Heading Performance
The POINT-1 AP supports GPS and GLONASS constellations, with Galileo compatibility via software updates. It is also compatible with SBAS systems (WAAS/EGNOS/MSAS) for 3-meter horizontal accuracy. The sensor delivers heading data at 10 Hz, with a turn rate accuracy of +/- 3° and roll/pitch accuracy at 30° of +/- 1°. Cold start time is 50 seconds, with a 3-second warm start and 3-second satellite reacquisition.
Robust Design and NMEA 2000® Integration
With a compact 90 mm diameter and 30 mm height design and a weight of 0.14 kg, the Navico POINT-1 AP is fully waterproof and built to withstand marine environments. It operates across a temperature range of -25°C to +60°C and supports 93% humidity at 40°C. Power input is 5 to 18 V DC, with consumption under 2 W and reverse polarity protection. Connection to the NMEA 2000® network is via a Micro C connector, allowing flexible installation in flush-mount or standard mast configurations. It transmits numerous NMEA 2000® PGNs, including system time, position data (including fast updates), COG & SOS, GNS DOP, satellites in view, magnetic variation, compass heading, turn rate, and attitude.
