Detailed description
Detailed description
Designed for small to medium-sized sailboats, the SD10 Mechanical Drive Navico is a mechanical drive unit for autopilot systems. It is compatible with NAC-2 autopilot computers and Simrad AP16 and AP25 models, enabling integration for automated navigation. This drive is recommended for sailboats between 7.5 and 11 meters (25 to 37 feet) in length and supports a maximum displacement of 6,500 kg (14,300 lbs) at full load.
Performance and Technical Specifications
The SD10 Mechanical Drive operates on a 12V DC power supply. Its electrical consumption peaks at 7 A and averages 2.5 A, with a clutch circuit drawing 0.85 A, for a maximum power output of 90 watts. It delivers a cable thrust of 180 kg (400 lbs) and offers a maximum stroke of 305 mm (12 inches). The maximum rudder torque is 450 Nm (333 lb ft), allowing a hard-over time of 12 to 18 seconds. The standard supplied tiller cable measures 2 meters (6 feet).
Installation and Integrated Features
This drive integrates a rudder feedback module directly into the unit, simplifying installation and reducing footprint. It features an electromagnetic clutch with disengagement function for easy manual steering. Its compact dimensions of 150 mm in width, 225 mm in height, and 150 mm in depth, combined with a weight of 4.9 kg, allow flexible installation, either horizontally or vertically, even in confined spaces. Its construction is designed to withstand marine environments. Paired with compatible autopilots, the SD10 Mechanical Drive supports advanced steering capabilities, such as Advanced Wind Steering (AWS), for precise and smooth navigation.
