The Icom IC-M73EURO portable VHF is a marine transceiver designed for reliable communication at sea. This model delivers 6 W RF power and extended battery life, all in an ergonomic and rugged chassis. It includes essential features for safety and convenience for marine users.

Audio Performance and RF Power

The Icom IC-M73EURO delivers 700 mW audio power via its internal speaker, thanks to a BTL (bridge-tied load) amplifier for clear sound. Its 6 W RF transmission power (adjustable to 3 W or 1 W) ensures extended communication range. Powered by a Li-Ion BP-245H battery, it offers up to 17 hours of battery life in 5:5:90 duty cycle, or 20 hours for the base version. The large-angle, high-intensity LCD display ensures optimal readability.

Ruggedness and Technical Specifications

The IC-M73EURO meets advanced IPX8 waterproofing standards, allowing it to withstand immersion to 1.5 m depth for 30 minutes. Its rugged design also complies with MIL-STD-810G military standards, including tests for low and high temperature (502.5 I, II), thermal shock (503.5 I-C), vibration (514.6 I), and shock (516.6 I, IV). The frequency range is 156.000 to 161.450 MHz for transmission and 156.000 to 163.425 MHz for reception, with ±1.5 kHz stability. Its dimensions are 52.5×125×30 mm and weight 320 g (with BP-245H battery, FA-564V antenna, and MB-103 clip).

Positioning and Advanced Features

Unlike the IC-M73EURO PLUS model, which includes voice recording, active noise reduction, and bass enhancement, the IC-M73EURO focuses on core performance with solid audio and RF output, certified ruggedness, and shared IPX8 waterproofing. It includes the AquaQuake water drainage function, dual/triple watch for channels 16 and distress, a 4-level battery indicator, favorite and labeled channel scanning, and support for new four-digit marine channels since January 2017. The BC-210 fast charger is included.
