Designed for sailing and powerboating, the Scanstrut SW-SP5S POD is a mounting solution for wheel helm, allowing integration of up to three FI70-type instrument displays. The front panel is supplied uncut, offering a maximum usable surface of 375x127mm for precise customization of cutouts.

Design and Compatibility

The pod is made from white-coated ABS acrylic, a material suitable for marine environments. It is compatible with wheel helm rails with diameters ranging from 25mm to 33.7mm. Scanstrut’s unique clamping system allows adaptation to adjustable rail centers from 152.4mm (6") to 304.8mm (12"). The external dimensions for a HelmPod 9" (SPH-9-W) are 374mm in width, 243mm in height, and 167mm in depth. Specific dimensions for the SW-SP5S were not found.

Secure Installation and Protection

The Scanstrut SW-SP5S features a no-drill mounting system using U-bolts that clamp around the rail and pass through the supports at the rear of the pod. This design eliminates the need to drill into the wheel helm rail. Installation and maintenance are simplified by fixings designed to be mounted from rear to front, creating their own threads in ABS injection-molded inserts at the front of the pod. A high tear-, heat-, and UV-resistant silicone gasket ensures enhanced sealing and durable protection for the instruments. The pod provides optimal viewing angles for installed electronic equipment.
