Detailed description
Detailed description
Designed for hydraulic or cable-steered vessels up to 9 metres (30 feet), the Simrad NAC-1 MKII Pump-1 precision hydraulic pilot pack provides a complete and reliable autopilot solution. The system ensures accurate course-keeping and seamless integration with compatible Simrad multifunction displays and Lowrance HDS Elite/FS screens.
Main System Components
The Simrad NAC-1 MKII Pump-1 pack includes all essential components for a complete installation. It comprises an NAC-1 autopilot computer, a 0.8-litre PUMP-1 (MkII) hydraulic pump, a Precision-9 fluxgate compass, a Standby-Auto pushbutton for quick control, and Micro-C network components for NMEA 2000® connectivity.
NAC-1 Autopilot Computer
The NAC-1 computer is the system’s core, featuring Continuum™ Steering technology for stable autopilot performance. It is compatible with vessels up to 9 metres and supports Simrad Virtual Rudder Feedback, eliminating the need for a separate rudder feedback unit on planing sterndrive or outboard powerboats. It is also compatible with Simrad RF25 rudder feedback units. The computer operates on 9–16V DC, with a typical current draw of 140mA plus the drive unit load, and provides a maximum continuous drive output of 8A (16A peak for 1 second). It features a Micro-C NMEA 2000® network port.
PUMP-1 (MkII) Hydraulic Pump
The PUMP-1 (MkII) hydraulic pump is a reversible 0.8-litre gear pump, powered by 12V DC. It is designed to be compatible with SeaStar manual steering pumps up to 14 cubic inches. It ships with three ORB-5 to 9/16 UNF fittings. With a nominal flow rate of 0.8 Lpm, a typical current draw of 4–7A, and a peak current of 11A at 50 bar, it delivers efficient and quiet operation. The pump measures 168 mm in overall length. The total pack weight is 6.3 kg.
Installation and Features
The pack is designed for simplified installation, with hydraulic connectors and hoses included, along with plug-and-play connectors that eliminate wire stripping or the use of screw-terminal blocks. Control options include a dashboard pushbutton for Auto/Standby activation. The system supports course, track, and route navigation, and includes automatic turn patterns. It also allows for the addition of a second helm station via MFD Power Steer commands, without requiring additional hydraulic components or a steering wheel.
