Detailed description
The Simrad NSO 4-16 MFD is a 16-inch multifunction display designed for offshore navigation. It features an 8-core Qualcomm processor, delivering high performance with 35% faster boot times and 10x faster auto-routing compared to the NSO evo3S.
Display and charting
Equipped with a Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) IPS display with SolarMax HD technology, the NSO 4-16 MFD ensures visibility in full sunlight and is compatible with polarized sunglasses. Its brightness reaches 1200 nits, and viewing angles are 80° in all directions. The system runs on the latest NEON™ OS, offering a smartphone-inspired user interface. This model includes C-MAP® DISCOVER™ X North America charting and is compatible with C-MAP® X-gen charts (DISCOVER® X, REVEAL® X) as well as third-party charts such as CMOR Mapping.
Connectivity and system integration
The NSO 4-16 MFD has 4 Gigabit Ethernet ports (M2 X-Code connectors), one NMEA 2000® Micro-C port, and Wi-Fi 5 (IEEE 802.11ac-2013) supporting 5.0 and 2.4GHz. It includes a USB port (USB 2.0, USB 3.0 In) for audio output, mass storage, software updates, and touch control. For video, it offers an HDMI Type input (up to 1920 x 1080P) and a composite video input, as well as an HDMI Type output (up to 1920 x 1080P). Audio is managed via the video input or USB output. Two microSD slots (SDHC, SDXC) support up to 256 GB. An external NMEA 2000 GPS antenna is required.
Design and advanced features
With 128 GB internal storage (over 64 GB for user data), the NSO 4-16 MFD features a "glass-to-edge" design with curved edges for aesthetic integration. It allows customizable layouts and multi-screen display up to six panels. Its compatibility extends to HALO® radars (dome and open array) and Active Imaging™ & Active Imaging™ HD fishfinder modules (requires S3100H), S3100 & S5100. Integrated wireless connectivity enables remote control via smartphones and tablets, as well as software updates. The unit supports a power supply voltage of 10.5 to 31V DC (12/24V DC), consumes a maximum of 33W, and has an IPX6 and IPX7 waterproof rating. Its dimensions are 391 x 243.95 x 78.79 mm, weighing 4.23 kg. It operates within a temperature range of -15°C to 55°C. A flush-mount rear system facilitates installation. The C-MAP® X chart manager allows direct updates via the internet.
