Detailed description
The Simrad NSX 3012 chartplotter and fishfinder combines marine navigation and fish detection on a 12-inch high-definition touchscreen. This unit integrates Simrad technologies for a complete and intuitive user experience.
SolarMAX IPS HD Display and Interface
Equipped with a 12-inch SolarMAX™ IPS HD display, the NSX 3012 offers a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels. With a brightness exceeding 1200 nits and viewing angles of 80° (up/down, left/right), visibility remains optimal even through polarized lenses and in bright sunlight. The multitouch interface enables direct and smooth interaction, complemented by a modern operating system, drag-and-drop screen customization, and an editable instrument bar with day and night modes. A guided setup assistant ensures quick commissioning of the system.
Integrated Fishfinder and GPS Technologies
The NSX 3012 supports Active Imaging™ fishfinder technologies, including CHIRP, SideScan, and DownScan Imaging™. It features a 1 kW transducer for enhanced deep-water performance and includes FishReveal™ for fish identification. It also supports 1 kW single-frequency CHIRP, traditional 50/200 kHz, HDI, and Active Imaging transducers via a single 9-pin XSONIC port. An internal 10 Hz, 32-channel GPS receiver provides rapid position updates with 3-meter (9.8 ft) horizontal accuracy, compatible with WAAS, MSAS, EGNOS, and GLONASS.
Mapping and Extended Connectivity
This unit is compatible with next-generation C-MAP® DISCOVER™ X and REVEAL™ X marine charts, as well as CMOR MAPPING X charts. A C-MAP DISCOVER X or REVEAL X chart is required for mapping. It offers extended connectivity with Wi-Fi (IEEE 802.11b/g/n) and Bluetooth 5.2 with support for classic Bluetooth. For wired connections, it includes a 100BASE-T Ethernet port (5-pin connector), an NMEA 2000 Micro-C port (1 LEN), a USB port for external drives, and support for IP cameras. The microSD SDXC card reader features two slots.
System Integration and Robustness
The NSX 3012 integrates seamlessly with Simrad® Sonar, autopilot, and HALO® radar systems for centralized control and complete boat management. It allows fishfinder data sharing across multiple NSX displays and offers a fast autorouting function. The unit operates on 12 V DC power (10.8 - 18 V DC) with a maximum consumption of 29.7 W (2150 mA at 13.8 V), requiring a 3 A fuse. Its robust design meets IPX6 and IPX7 protection ratings, with shock and vibration resistance tested to 100,000 cycles at 20 G. The operating temperature range is -15°C to +55°C (5°F to 131°F).
