Detailed description
Detailed description
The Simrad Pro CD100A Course Detector is a fluxgate-type magnetic heading sensor designed to accurately acquire heading data from a ship’s magnetic compass. It transmits this data to a compatible autopilot system, ensuring reliable integration with navigation instruments.
Heading detection and system integration
This course detector uses fluxgate technology to precisely read the magnetic field emitted by a compass card. It is specifically designed for integration with Simrad autopilot systems, transmitting heading data via the autopilot’s CAN bus after connection to a dedicated interface such as the Simrad CDI35 or CDI80. The CDI80 provides automatic gain adjustment, optimizing compatibility with various compass types.
Versatile installation
The CD100A Course Detector can be mounted to an existing magnetic compass in multiple ways. It is compatible with a 6 mm screw mounting under the compass bowl or via an included tripod mount for reflector-type or overhead-mounted compasses. Installation on a fully gimballed compass is required for optimal operation. The unit weighs 0.399 kg and measures approximately 22.87 x 6.99 cm. It is typically supplied with a 7-meter cable.
