Detailed description
Detailed description
The Simrad Pro CDI80 heading sensor interface is designed to integrate heading data from a magnetic compass into modern autopilot systems. This device reads heading information from a magnetic compass via a Simrad CD100A heading sensor and transmits it over the autopilot’s NMEA 2000 bus.
Key features and compatibility
The CDI80 features automatic gain adjustment, ensuring compatibility with a variety of magnetic compass types. It is specifically designed to work with the Simrad CD100A heading sensor, a fluxgate sensor that directly reads the magnetic field of the compass card. The heading data is then broadcast over the autopilot’s CAN bus, also known as the NMEA 2000 bus, ensuring seamless digital integration. This module is compatible with Simrad PRO series autopilots, including AP70 and AP80 systems.
Installation and compliance
For optimal installation, the magnetic compass used with the CD100A sensor must be fully gimbaled. The CDI80 unit must be installed within 7 meters of the CD100A heading sensor to ensure a reliable connection. This product has been tested and complies with EN 60945:2002, the standard for maritime navigation and radio communication equipment, attesting to its reliability and resistance to general marine conditions. Navico also declares compliance with Australian level 2 requirements under the Radiocommunications (Electromagnetic Compatibility) Standard 2008.
