Detailed description
Detailed description
The Simrad Pro GS70 N2K intelligent GPS antenna is a marine navigation solution designed for professional and recreational applications requiring precise positioning and simplified network integration. This antenna complies with IMO (International Maritime Organization) requirements, making it suitable for professional navigation systems.
Positioning accuracy and performance
The GS70 N2K integrates a 32-channel GNSS receiver, compatible with L1 (C/A code, 1.575 GHz) and L2 (C/A code, 1.602 GHz) frequencies. It offers a configurable position refresh rate up to 10 Hz (1, 5 or 10 Hz), ensuring rapid updates of navigation data. The horizontal GPS accuracy (2DRMS) reaches 5 meters (16.4 feet). With DGPS corrections from SBAS systems (WAAS, EGNOS, MSAS), accuracy improves to 2 meters. The antenna also supports RTCM corrections via the NMEA 2000 bus, and the MX610 junction box can convert these corrections to NMEA 2000 format. Cold start time is approximately 50 seconds, while a warm start takes only 3 seconds, with satellite reacquisition in 5 seconds.
Integration and robustness
Designed for seamless integration, the GS70 antenna uses a standard NMEA 2000 (N2K) interface for easy "plug-and-play" installation. It is compatible with Simrad GPS displays P3007 (for IMO applications) and P2005 (for non-IMO applications), as well as with Simrad navigation systems GN70, MX610 or MX612 via the NMEA 2000 bus. Environmentally, the GS70 is rated IPX7 for immersion resistance and can operate within a temperature range of -25°C to +60°C. Its compact design has dimensions of 90 mm in diameter and 38 mm in height, with a weight of approximately 0.14 kg. Power is supplied by an input voltage of 9 V DC to 18 V DC, with power consumption below 2 W and reverse polarity protection.
Connectivity and NMEA 2000 PGNs
The NMEA 2000 connectivity allows the GS70 to transmit a range of essential PGNs (Parameter Group Numbers), including system time (126992), attitude (127257), position (129025, 129029), COG and SOG (129026), GNS DOP (129539), satellites in view (129540), and various GNSS error and correction statistics (129542, 129545, 129546, 129547, 129549, 130852).
