Designed for precise navigation, the Simrad PRO RF45X Rudder Feedback is a mid-range rudder angle feedback unit. It provides accurate and continuous rudder angle data, essential for autopilot systems and standalone rudder angle indicators. Its robust and repairable design, inherited from the Simrad RF45, ensures long-term reliability in demanding marine environments.
Accuracy and Robustness in Marine Environments
The RF45X offers an angular range of ±45 degrees, transmitting data with an accuracy of ±0.25° within ±5° and ±0.5° beyond, with a repeatability of ±0.1°. Made from Arnite T06 200 PBT, this sensor resists shocks and maritime conditions. Its IP56 rating ensures protection against dust and powerful water jets. The unit operates within a temperature range of -25°C to +55°C and can be stored from -30°C to +70°C.
Autopilot Integration and Performance
This rudder feedback unit is powered by 12/24V DC (tolerance ±20%). The Simrad PRO RF45X offers versatile output signals: a modulated frequency output of 3400Hz (±20Hz per degree of rudder movement) for Simrad autopilot systems (compatible with J3XX inputs for AP35/AP50 and AP45/AP9 Mk3 via internal jumpers) and a variable current output (0.1 to 1.1mA) for standalone rudder angle indicators. It can operate autonomously at 24V DC for indicator systems. Its 345 mm stainless steel transmission link with two ball joints ensures a direct mechanical connection and a 1:1 ratio with the rudder.
Flexible Installation
The RF45X can be mounted horizontally, vertically, or upside down, with the option to reverse shaft deflection. For optimal installation, a safety distance of 1.0 m (3.1 ft.) from a magnetic compass is recommended. Its weight is 1 kg.
