Detailed description
The Simrad RI-50 HALO Radar Power Supply is an interface and power module designed for Simrad HALO 2000 and HALO 3000 open-array radar systems. It provides essential power delivery and network connectivity for the radar pedestal.
Technical Specifications and Compatibility
This module is specifically compatible with Simrad HALO 2000 and HALO 3000 radar series. The RI-50 accepts an input voltage of 12 V DC (range 10.8 V to 15.6 V) and 24 V DC (range 20 V to 31.2 V). It delivers a nominal output voltage of 50 V DC to the radar pedestal during transmission. Average power consumption can reach 20 A (20 A nominal, 25 A peak) on both 12 V and 24 V DC power systems. Reverse polarity, overvoltage, and undervoltage protection is integrated. A dedicated 25 A fuse or circuit breaker is required for 12 V and 24 V systems. The enclosure is rated IPX5, making it suitable for exposed marine installations. The unit weighs 1.6 kg (3.5 lbs) and measures 337.0 mm x 261 mm x 170 mm. Radar network connectivity is managed via Ethernet, using a 5-pin Navico yellow connector on the radar side and including an adapter for standard RJ45 connections.
Features and Diagnostics
The RI-50 front panel is equipped with LED indicators for power, faults, status, and Ethernet activity, facilitating diagnostics. An internal blown-fuse indicator light is also present for simplified troubleshooting. The module manages low-current radar pedestal parking voltage control. The RI-50 is essential for enabling HALO 2000 and 3000 radar features such as Pulse Compression technology, dual-range simultaneous operation, ZoneTrack, Doppler VelocityTrack™ collision avoidance, and hazardous target alerts.
