SE40/125S2 12V electric bow thruster

Designed for boats from 8 to 10.5 meters (26 to 34 feet), the Sleipner SE40/125S2 12V electric bow thruster is a compact manoeuvring solution. This model can be installed as either a bow thruster or a stern thruster, delivering 48 kg of thrust at 12V and 40 kg at 10.5V. Its power output is 2.2 kW (3 HP) at 10.5V, with an internal tunnel diameter of 125 mm.

Technologies and performance

The SE40/125S2 features Q-PROP™ technology with five-blade composite propellers with asymmetric profiles, designed to reduce noise levels by 20 to 40% in average installations while maintaining or improving efficiency. The single-propeller propulsion system is optimized for energy efficiency. The thruster is equipped with Intelligent Power Control (IPC), a patented technology that minimizes the delay between direction changes to reduce mechanical wear and monitors solenoid functions, automatically stopping the thruster if a solenoid is blocked.

Reliability and built-in safety

Overheat protection is provided by a thermal switch that automatically cuts power to the electric motor. Immersed components are galvanically isolated from the boat’s electrical system to eliminate stray currents. The drive system is lifetime-lubricated and sealed by a durable mechanical seal with ceramic and carbon surfaces, preventing water intrusion. Safety features include dual-button activation on control panels, electronic delay to protect against sudden direction changes, a flexible coupling between the motor and drive shaft to prevent propeller jams, and automatic shutdown after 6 to 9 minutes of inactivity with original Sleipner panels.

Installation and maintenance

The Sleipner SE40/125S2 bow thruster is designed for flexible installation, allowing mounting at any angle in the tunnel and 90-degree rotation of the electric motor on its bracket. Compact units, "Plug and Go" electrical wiring, accessible battery cable terminals, and quick propeller installation simplify setup. The thruster weighs 10 kg. A minimum battery capacity of 570 CCA SAE and a recommended 250A fuse (SMANL250) are required. This model can be upgraded to PRO™ variable speed control.
