Designed for precise manoeuvring on vessels from 22 to 30 meters, the Sleipner eVision E300 48 V tunnel thruster delivers 300 kg (661 lbs) of thrust at 48 V. This tunnel thruster integrates advanced technology for optimized performance and simplified installation.

eVision and S-Link™ technology

The eVision E300 thruster features a six-phase permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) and an integrated inverter. This setup enables precise variable speed control, reducing noise and improving interaction with the joystick. The S-Link™ control system, based on CAN, ensures smooth communication between Sleipner equipment aboard, with compact, waterproof, keyed, and color-coded connectors to simplify installation. A hold function is also available for twin-thruster systems, allowing the vessel to be held alongside the dock with a single button press.

Performance and design

With a 300 mm tunnel diameter, this thruster delivers 15 kW (20 hp) of power and 360 A of current. It incorporates Q-Prop™ technology with five-blade asymmetric propellers, designed to reduce noise levels by 20 to 40 % in real-world conditions and up to 75 % in controlled tests, while maintaining thrust efficiency. Its compact and lightweight design—up to 50 % lighter and 40 % smaller than previous models—facilitates integration. The motor benefits from extended 100 % thrust autonomy thanks to its efficiency and an active air-cooling system.

Safety and durability

The eVision E300 thruster complies with ISO 8846 for protection against ignition of flammable vapors. It features overheat protection that automatically reduces thrust power to maintain safe temperatures. Immersed components are galvanically isolated from the vessel’s electrical system to eliminate stray currents. The gearbox is pre-filled for lifetime lubrication and sealed with a durable mechanical seal for water intrusion protection. A flexible coupling protects the transmission by compensating for misalignments between the motor shaft and the gearbox shaft. Counter-rotating dual propellers ensure maximum thrust with an optimal performance ratio in a reduced tunnel diameter.
