Detailed description
Detailed description
The Sleipner SE25/110S 12V electric bow thruster is designed to provide precise maneuvering capabilities for small vessels. Powered by a 12V DC system, it delivers 25 kg of thrust at 10.5V and 30 kg at 12V, with a power output of 1.5 kW (2 HP) at 10.5V. This model is suitable for boats up to approximately 7.3 meters (24 feet), depending on the vessel’s weight and windage. It features a single 5-blade "Q-prop" composite reinforced propeller requiring a 110 mm internal tunnel diameter. Nominal current draw is 200 amperes, and it weighs 9.5 kg. A minimum battery capacity of 200 CCA (Cold Cranking Amps) for a 12V system is recommended. Motor height is 247 mm, and the recommended operational duty cycle limit is 2 to 3 cycles at 20°C.
Integrated technologies for performance and durability
The SE25/110S incorporates several Sleipner technologies. Intelligent Power Control (IPC) is a patented technology that minimizes mechanical wear by ensuring minimal delay between direction changes and monitoring solenoid functions. If a solenoid locks up, the thruster stops automatically. Galvanic isolation protects the submerged parts (gear housing/propeller legs) from corrosion by electrically isolating them from the motor and its mount, preventing stray currents. For motor protection, a thermal cut-out switch prevents overheating and resets automatically once the motor cools.
Simplified installation and maintenance
The Sleipner SE25/110S is designed for flexible installation: it can be mounted at any angle in the tunnel, and the electric motor can be oriented in 90-degree increments on its bracket. The gear housing is pre-filled and permanently sealed, featuring ceramic and carbon mechanical seals for enhanced water intrusion resistance, simplifying maintenance. Q-Prop™ technology, with its 5-blade skewed propeller, contributes to noise reduction measured up to 75% in controlled environments while maintaining or improving thrust performance.
Operational safety
Safety features include an electronic timer to protect against abrupt direction changes and a flexible coupling between the motor and drive shaft to safeguard the system if the propeller locks. Original Sleipner control panels feature dual activation buttons to prevent accidental starts and power off automatically after a period of inactivity. The SE25/110S is designed exclusively for bow installation.
