Performance and technical design

The Sleipner SE80/185T-24IP thruster operates on a 24 V DC system and features an internal tunnel diameter of 185 mm. It uses a twin-propeller drive delivering 4.4 kW (6 HP) at 21 V. The unit weighs approximately 20 kg and requires a minimum battery capacity of 570 CCA SAE, with a recommended fuse size of 250 A (SMANL250). Minimum tunnel depth must be 93 mm. Its mounting bracket is made of seawater-resistant bronze, permanently lubricated, and galvanically isolated.

• Q-PROP™ technology: This thruster is fitted with a 5-blade composite skewback propeller designed to reduce noise levels by 20–40 % in real-world conditions and up to 75 % in controlled tests.
• Intelligent Power Control (IPC): This patented system minimizes response time between direction changes, reduces mechanical wear, and monitors solenoid functions. If a solenoid locks up, the thruster stops automatically.

• Sealed bracket lubrication: The bracket is factory-filled with a special oil and sealed with ceramic and carbon mechanical seals, providing lifetime, maintenance-free lubrication.
• Flexible installation: The thruster can be mounted at any angle within the tunnel, and the electric motor can be rotated 90 degrees on its bracket, offering versatile installation options.
• Flexible coupling: A flexible coupling protects the shaft line by compensating for misalignment between the electric motor and the bracket shafts.
