The Victron Energy Cerbo GX MK2 is an advanced communication hub designed for centralized monitoring and control of marine and off-grid energy systems. Successor to the first-generation Cerbo GX, this MK2 version integrates a dual-core processor and significant connectivity improvements for optimized energy management.
Connectivity and System Integration
This communication hub is equipped with three isolated VE.Direct ports, two parallel RJ45 VE.Bus ports (isolated), and two fully functional VE.Can CAN bus ports, one of which is isolated. This configuration represents an improvement over previous models, which had a single VE.Can port and a BMS-Can port. The Cerbo GX MK2 also features three fully functional USB ports, unlike earlier versions where one port was dedicated solely to power. For network connectivity, it includes an Ethernet port, an HDMI port, and a Micro SD card slot. Its inputs include four resistive tank levels and four temperature sensors (range -40°C to +70°C, sensors not included), as well as four digital inputs capable of pulse counting. Two programmable relays are available as outputs.
Advanced Monitoring and Control
With the Cerbo GX MK2, users benefit from real-time monitoring of battery state of charge, power consumption, photovoltaic production, generator, and grid status. The system also enables remote control via the Victron Remote Management (VRM) portal or the VictronConnect app using integrated Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. Local access is possible via optional GX Touch 50 or GX Touch 70 touchscreens, or a compatible multifunction display (MFD). The Cerbo GX MK2 also supports NMEA 2000 output for easy integration into onboard networks and runs on Venus OS 3.0, offering an intuitive interface.
Applications and Optimization
The Cerbo GX MK2 is suitable for various applications, including marine installations, off-grid systems, backup systems, motorhomes, and emergency vehicles. It facilitates parameter adjustment, management of shore power input limits, and automatic start/stop of generators. Node-RED support enables the creation of automation flows. The RJ-45 ports have been rotated 180 degrees to simplify cable connection and disconnection. Its power input ranges from 8 to 70V DC, and its dimensions are 78 (W) x 154 (D) x 48 (H) mm, with an operating temperature range of -20°C to +50°C.
